The world's longest aircraft, Boeing 747-8, with a total length of 76.4 metres will begin flight on the Beijing-New York and Beijing-San Francisco routes from January 2015. Air China disclosed this on Thursday November 6. The Boeing 747-8 have been operating on Beijing-Shanghai and Beijing-Guangzhou routes since early October when it joined Air China's fleet.
Boeing 747-8 jumbo passenger jet was unveiled February 13, 2011 at the company's commercial airplane manufacturing facility based in Everett, Washington.
Boeing 747-8 has 365 seating capacity and maximum flight range of 14,815km. Air China will become the first Asian airline plane to use this model of aircraft.
